What is Occluding Our Understanding of Retinal Vein Occlusion?
The prevalence of retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is rising, driven by its association with age and cardiovascular disease.RVO pathogenesis is complex, and the patient population is heterogeneous. To optimize treatment strategies, it is essential to understand and address unmet needs within the RVO patient journey. We must leverage recent advancements including imaging and serologic biomarkers, data linkage and artificial intelligence, and patient-reported outcome tools, as well as novel treatments targeting multiple pathways, to achieve a future where treatment is individualized and streamlined to optimize visual outcomes for all patients with RVO.
