Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Boarding Gate Face Recognition Data Security Using Blockchain Technology

This paper introduces an innovative application of blockchain technology to secure facial recognition data at the Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) boarding gates. As a decentralized and distributed ledger system, blockchain ensures data integrity through cryptographic mechanisms, making it resilient against tampering and breaches. The public's growing concern over data security in Indonesia underscores the importance of this research. By leveraging blockchain's hashing techniques, our approach securely stores facial recognition data, transforming each data entry into a unique hash. Each block in the chain contains a current hash for identification and a historical hash linking it to the previous block, ensuring a traceable and immutable record. Our trials involved saving image information in the blockchain, generating hashes for both the blocks, the images, and verifying the integrity of each block through its cryptographic connections. The results demonstrate that integrating blockchain can significantly enhance the security of KAI's boarding gate systems, reducing unauthorized access and ensuring data integrity. This method offers a robust solution for protecting sensitive biometric data, providing a high level of security where decryption is required to modify or retrieve the stored information. Ultimately, our blockchain-based approach strengthens the overall security framework at KAI, addressing critical data protection needs.
