In Utero Electroporation: A Technology for Manipulating Gene Expression in the Mouse Models of Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy
Developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEE) can be associated with genetic disorders of cortical development. Children with DEEs suffer both from intractable seizures and serious problems in psychomotor development. For subsequent diagnosis and possible treatment, it is essential to understand mechanisms of DEE development. The important part of developmental studies is the creation of animal models. In this article we demonstrate the possibilities of manipulating genetic expression by in utero electroporation to investigate the genetic causes of DEE.
