SignChain: Enhanced Digital Signature System Security with HashIDs in Blockchain
This research offers a new approach by combining digital signatures with Hash ID algorithms and integrating blockchain technology to build a more secure digital certificate verification and validation system. As a decentralized data storage technology, Blockchain provides a secure and verifiable environment for managing and securing digital certificates. This study highlights the use of digital signatures by leveraging blockchain networks to increase security and maintain the integrity of digital certificates. The research method begins with data collection, system development, and testing. Various test scenarios assessed system robustness, including compression, data modification, image addition, and file rotation. The findings show that integrating HashIDs with digital signatures into blockchain networks can improve the security of digital certificates, with changes to certificates detected automatically to maintain authenticity and integrity. The average time to generate a signature with a hash ID is 3.41 seconds. On the other hand, the average time to validate a signature with a hash ID is 1.14 seconds. The implications of this research indicate that blockchain technology, integrating HashIDs, becomes a reliable solution for managing and verifying digital certificates, providing adequate protection against counterfeiting and ensuring reliable authentication. Further research should evaluate the performance of various hashing algorithms in the context of blockchain networks.
