On the use of multiple vibroimpact absorbers for multimodal vibration control
Vibroimpact absorption is a vibration attenuation strategy that consists of transferring the energy of a vibrating structure to high frequencies during impacts with a secondary oscillating mass. The energy transferred is dissipated, and the process thus generated is irreversible. The efficiency of a single absorber has been the subject of various experimental and numerical studies, and the aim here is to investigate the performance of a multiple configuration. To this end, a case study consisting of an aircraft wing model has been fitted with a network of absorbers whose properties in gap and position can be modified. By optimizing these properties, it has been shown that it is possible to simultaneously control several modes and improve attenuation efficiency.
