APPLICATION OF EDUCATIONAL SCAFFOLDING IN TEACHING PROFESSIONALLY-ORIENTED ENGLISH AT A TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
The article deals with the application of educational scaffolding in teaching professionally-oriented English to non-linguistic students. Such scaffolding techniques as story innovation and storytelling are considered. The article shows that story innovation and storytelling motivate students to memorise vocabulary in their speciality and to construct their own sentences with this vocabulary. It is revealed that 52% of students were able to construct their own sentences in English with reliance on the proposed structures. The application of such scaffolding techniques as story innovation and storytelling contributes to the development of professionally-oriented communicative skills, increasing students’ motivation and autonomy, forming a comfortable educational environment.
