USO CRÔNICO DE BENZODIAZEPÍNICOS POR IDOSOS E A DIFICULDADE DE DESMAME NA UNIDADE BÁSICA DE SAÚDE: UM RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA

INTRODUCTION: The use of benzodiazepine drugs is extremely useful in modern medicine, especially considering the broad application of these medications. OBJECTIVE: To present the challenges related to the process of deprescribing benzodiazepines in the elderly at a primary healthcare unit in the city of Anápolis-GO, during the period from March 2023 to July 2024. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: While the relative and temporary benefits of benzodiazepineswere noticed, the difficulties associated with their adverse effects and the challenging deprescribing process became evident. CONCLUSION: It is clear that the difficulty is widespread, and the best strategy is to exercise more caution when managing comorbidities in the elderly.
