Interactive Attained and Predicted CII Grade Calculator Tool
The maritime industry is the backbone of global goods transportation and a big contributor to CO2 emissions. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has introduced regulations to reduce emissions from ships, initially focusing on design. However, operational practices impact emissions significantly. The IMO introduced the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) to assess emissions from operations, effective January 2023. Existing carbon intensity assessment tools are often expensive or limited. To address this, an Excel-based calculator has been developed, accessible to all shipping operators. It incorporates various fuel options, correction factors, and operational scenarios. This tool enables informed decision-making to drive sustainability efforts amid the maritime sector's transition to a low-carbon future.
