DOGMATISM IN THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING REGULATION

This paper provides a comparative overview of technical regulations related to the field of geotechnical engineering – old regulations before Eurocodes, existing and new Eurocode 7. An analysis is carried out related to the degree of standardization of regulations, i.e. the existence of uncritical trust in legally normed and prescribed procedures and rules. The importance of the capacity to carry out critical engineering assessment in solving everyday engineering tasks is argued.
