A metabolic profiling study of pulmonary arterial hypertension
The main characteristic of arterial hypertension (PAH) is the gradual increase in pulmonary artery pressure and impaired vascular growth regulation. Increasingly, animal models of PAH and blood samples from patients with PAH and lung cells from patients with PAH have been found to have metabolic abnormalities. Because of this, changes in metabolism and biological functions are deemed to be common in PAHs. From the perspective of metabolomics, this review introduces metabolic research and possible treatments for pulmonary hypertension. Developing new therapeutics for treating patients can be strengthened by expanding our understanding of the metabolic mechanisms underlying PAH.
