Sensitivity Enhancement of Franckeite Based Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor
In this study, we have designed the franckeite based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor. The sensitivity of the proposed sensor is directly influenced by the thickness of the franckeite layer, where franckeite is deposited onto a copper (Cu) layer surface. In theory, this configuration has attained a sensitivity of up to 271.25 °/RIU, which is 53.71% more sensitive than conventional sensors. Furthermore, we investigate the possibility of incorporating bilayer franckeite (2*franckeite) layers to improve biocompatibility and sensitivity to an even greater extent. The figure of merit (FoM) of 54.25/RIU is achieved. Also, utilized the proposed sensor to demonstrate the penetration depth (PD). The PD of 205.94nm is obtained. Since franckeite is a 2D material, we believe that it will benefit for the detection of biological and chemical sensing technologies.
