Performance Evaluation of Resource Allocation Algorithms for Multi-Core Optical NetworksConsidering Physical Layer Impairments

Multi-core fiber-based elastic optical networks (MCF-EONs) have emerged as a promising solution to address the increasing traffic demand on the Internet. However, despite their potential, MFC-EONs face significant challenges regarding efficient resource allocation. This paper aims to analyze and compare nine resource allocation algorithms in MCF-EONs. The key idea is to evaluate the performance of these algorithms in different scenarios, considering the physical layer impairments. The numeric results present contributions by quantifying the impact of the physical layer impairments in resource allocation algorithms, providing valuable information for future optimizations in MCF-EONs.
