Dual-Band Frequency Selective Surface in Quartz for Transmitarray Applications at Sub-THz

This paper introduces a novel 1-bit dual-band unit-cell (UC), called Asymmetric Linear Polarizer (ALP) with potential applications in transmitarray (TA) systems operating at sub-THz frequencies. Drawing inspiration from frequency-selective surface (FSS)-based structures, the proposed UC demonstrates promising behaviors in terms of bandwidth and reduced transmission losses. TAs comprising 30×30 ALP UCs are designed using an in-house CAD tool and validated numerically using full-wave simulations. Maximum gain values of 25.8 dBi and 17.9 dBi, corresponding to aperture efficiencies of 25.9% and 22.4% are achieved at 300 GHz and 130 GHz, respectively.
