An UWB antenna with total and sharp rejection of WIMAX band using metamaterial cells
In this letter, an improved applied approach based on hexagonal metamaterial cells for filter-antenna design is presented. It is mainly useful to surmount interferences between users in UWB applications. First, an UWB antenna is designed by using GA, then the undesired WiMAX band (5.7-5.95 GHz) is rejected by optimizing of two pair hexagonal-shaped split ring resonator (SRR) metamaterial cells which are located close to a $50-\Omega$ microstrip feed line. The rejection level of stopband frequencies close to 0 dB and correspond to 5.8 GHz. Extremely interesting simulated results for the reflection coefficient, current distribution and gain are illustrated and discussed.
