Anisotropic 3D Printed Unit Cells for More Realistic EEG Physical Head Phantoms
This contribution deals with a comparison of several anisotropic unit cell models for mimicking properties of head tissues to create more realistic fabricable anisotropic head phantoms for electroencephalogram (EEG) systems. The selected unit cells can be exploited for creation of a white matter or skull anisotropy, while being suitable for practical realization of head phantoms by 3D printing techniques. Their effective conductivities are calculated by numerical simulations in CST Studio Suite and their maximum anisotropic ratios are evaluated for various conductivity ratios of the host and inclusion materials. Further, the numerically calculated effective conductivity of a simple sandwich unit cell is validated by the analytical equivalent electrical circuit networks method.
