A Digitally Coded Time-Modulated Transmit Array: Performance Prediction, Optimization and Experimental Verification
The formulation for the radiated field of a digitally coded time-modulated transmit array is presented. Unlike a conventional time-modulated array, the ON and OFF times in this formulation are in discrete durations within the modulation period. Moreover, both amplitude and phase modulations can be applied simultaneously instead of just amplitude modulation only. Experimental measurements are performed to verify the theoretical predictions of the radiation patterns at the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of the digitally coded time-modulated transmit array.
