Dual Circularly Polarized Metaline Array Antenna
Array antenna techniques have been used for beamforming, where the increase in the gain and communication angle area are realized. The array antenna adopts circularly polarized (CP) antennas are used because the polarization alignment between the transmitting and receiving antennas is not required. In [1], left-handed circularly polarized (LHCP) and right-handed circularly polarized (RHCP) waves are combined to obtain a linearly polarized wave using hybrid circuits. A CP, small, beam-steerable antenna has been realized using bent metalines [2]. It has a small antenna volume that enables us to make a phased array antenna, achieving either an RHCP or an LHCP wave (single polarization characteristic). So far, the dual polarization characteristic of this phased array antenna has not been discussed. This paper proposes a $4 \times 2$ array antenna for a wireless power transfer (WPT) system, which needs a dual CP wave. This system has the advantage that it does not need hybrid circuits. The proposed antenna is simulated using CST [3].
