Design of Drude Metasurface Antennas for High-Band Compatibility
With the increasing requirements for wireless communication systems, multiband antennas were put forward. However, there are serious blockages for a high-band (HB) antenna when a low-band (LB) antenna with the larger overall size is placed on the radiation direction of it (Fig. 1(a)), which hinders the development of multiband antennas. To address this challenge, various routes have been presented, including metasurface cloaks [1], choking methods [2], and bandpass frequency selective surface [3]. Most of them concentrated on the structural optimization. Here, from the perspective of dispersion engineering of homogeneous materials, a novel methodology utilizing the Drude metasurfaces to design high-band compatibility antennas is proposed.
