Experimental Investigation of Polarization Performance for X-Band Metasurface Absorber
This paper presents the experimental investigation of polarization performance for metasurface absorber using horn antennas. The absorber which is designed to work at X -band frequency is configured by split ring resonator (SRR) with striplines. One of the horn antennas is connected to signal generator, while another one is to spectrum analyzer, whereby a device under test (DUT) is installed in front of both antennas. The absorber as a DUT has the dimensions of $278.4 \mathrm{~mm} \times 278.4$ mm, in which its polarization performance is characterized in three orientation angles, namely $0^{\circ}, 45^{\circ}$ and 90°. The angle of orientation is determined based on the alignments between the position of horn antennas which have linear polarization and the striplines of the absorber. The measurement results are analyzed using the ones taken by a copper conductor plat as comparison which has the same size and measurement distance. It shows that the orientation angle of ${ }^{0}$ between the antennas and the striplines has the maximum normalized absorption of -23.19 dB at the frequency of 8.88 GHz. The absorption decreases with the alteration of orientation angle to 45° and 90° for -18.07 dB and -12.15 dB, respectively.
