Pyramidally Shaped Absorbing Boundary for FDTD Simulations
Currently, the most popular absorbing boundary for a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation is the convolutional perfectly matched layer (CPML) [1]. The CPML is a set of layers applied to the edge of the simulation domain where each layer is assigned electric and magnetic conductivities based on the layer depth and other equations to support theoretically minimum reflection for all frequencies and incident angles. However, the use of CPML in terminating the simulation domain increases the simulation time and memory requirements significantly in addition to the programming complexity.
