IPCSBR: A Mesh-Free Intelligence Assisted Point-Cloud Shooting and Bouncing Rays Method

Shooting and bouncing rays (SBR) is a classic high frequency asymptotic method (HFAM) in computational electromagnetics (CEM). It is designed to solve electrically large size problems and is widely recognized for both outstanding efficiency and accuracy. SBR has long been used in scattering characteristic analysis, channel modeling and measurements, electromagnetic imaging, and so on. However, despite its prowess, the traditional SBR still has limitations from geometric perspective. For example, most modern SBR simulators only support mesh-based geometry representation. While this may suffice for simple scenes or pre-existing meshes, meshbased SBR encounters efficiency challenges when simulating electromagnetic environments in complex regions like office spaces, modern factories, streets, or during on-site calculations. Thus it is imperative to incorporate more accessible geometry representations into the computational framework of the traditional SBR.
