Polarimetric Scattering Estimation of Urban Buildings by Using PolSAR data

Radar polarimetry is a powerful tool to discriminate scattering phenomena of the targets. This technique has been applied to earth observation by satellite-bome synthetic aperture radar (SAR), called Polarimetric SAR (PolSAR). Polarimetry can be used to observe land cover classification based on differences in polarimetric scattering nature of targets on the earth surface. In addition, changes in the surface conditions can be detected in time-series dataset. This is expected to be a disaster monitoring technique.

Abstract

Radar polarimetry is a powerful tool to discriminate scattering phenomena of the targets. This technique has been applied to earth observation by satellite-bome synthetic aperture radar (SAR), called Polarimetric SAR (PolSAR). Polarimetry can be used to observe land cover classification based on differences in polarimetric scattering nature of targets on the earth surface. In addition, changes in the surface conditions can be detected in time-series dataset. This is expected to be a disaster monitoring technique.
