Study on Improvement of the Fast Inverse Laplace Transform for Transient Analyses

This study investigates a time-domain simulation technique based on the fast inverse Laplace transform (FILT) [1]. The time-domain simulations have attracted more attentions in applications of electromagnetic waves, and the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method [2] may be the most commonly used technique for this purpose. Basic idea of the FDTD method, which directly discretizes the Maxwell equations and the constitutive relations, is intuitive and relatively easy to understand. However, its computational cost sometimes limits the scope of application when high-precision simulation is required. On a different note, the frequency-domain approaches have a long history, and we have a vast store of knowledge. The FILT makes it possible to utilize this knowledge for a wide range of the transient response analyses of electromagnetic fields [3–5].
