Stability investigation of positive/negative switching capacitor

Recently, several interesting MTM/MTS applications based on a positive/negative switching capacitor have been proposed, but the stability properties of this device remained unclear. Here, using a modified ‘disc criterion’, we show that it is possible to design such a stable capacitor and verify the analysis by experiments in the 100 kHz-10 MHz RF band.

Abstract

Recently, several interesting MTM/MTS applications based on a positive/negative switching capacitor have been proposed, but the stability properties of this device remained unclear. Here, using a modified ‘disc criterion’, we show that it is possible to design such a stable capacitor and verify the analysis by experiments in the 100 kHz-10 MHz RF band.
