A Novel Dimensional Alignment of Electric and Magnetic Field Intensity Vectors in FDTD for PML Implementation (Invited)

The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique [1] often faces challenges in handling boundless space extensions, particularly in wave-structure interactions. A solution to this issue lies in applying an absorbing boundary condition (ABC) with the perfectly matched layer (PML) technique [2]. The PML technique, by absorbing outgoing waves without reflection, improves free-space simulation accuracy and reduces computational requirements.

Abstract

The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique [1] often faces challenges in handling boundless space extensions, particularly in wave-structure interactions. A solution to this issue lies in applying an absorbing boundary condition (ABC) with the perfectly matched layer (PML) technique [2]. The PML technique, by absorbing outgoing waves without reflection, improves free-space simulation accuracy and reduces computational requirements.
