Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging using the Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique

Radar imaging is a large and ever-growing field with many industrial applications. This paper describes the design and implementation of the Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique (SIRT), which is usually applied to parallel beam measurements, on reflection data captured by a Vector Network Analyser. The dataset is pre-processed and a system matrix is generated in order to implement the SIRT algorithm. Various window functions are applied to the data and their effectiveness is analysed.

Abstract

Radar imaging is a large and ever-growing field with many industrial applications. This paper describes the design and implementation of the Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique (SIRT), which is usually applied to parallel beam measurements, on reflection data captured by a Vector Network Analyser. The dataset is pre-processed and a system matrix is generated in order to implement the SIRT algorithm. Various window functions are applied to the data and their effectiveness is analysed.
