In-body and on-body antennas for the ISM 2.45 GHz band
This study involved the design of three antennas, two intended for in-body applications and the other antenna for on-body use. Antennas were designed with a phantom that has the electromagnetic properties equivalent to human muscle at 2.45 GHz. The phantom has dimensions of 400 x 350 x 150 mm. Antennas were fabricated and tested using pork tissue. Simulations were conducted to investigate the transmission between these antennas within the 2.45 GHz ISM frequency band. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values were investigated. Fabricated in-body antennas showed good results inside the pork tissue. Simulated results also showed a transmission value of -40dB between antennas was obtained with the in-body antenna located in the center of the phantom.
