A gravity control beam steerable patch antenna utilizing liquid metal flows in fluidic channels
We have designed a double-sided rectangular pattern reconfigurable antenna using liquid metal. The antenna can automatically redirect its main beam direction without any electrical or mechanical control system. With the help of gravity, Gallium-based liquid metal can flow between two channels incorporated into the two sides of the antenna, which in turn changes the main beam direction. This antenna operates at 2.37 GHz and can fix its radiation beam direction when the whole antenna has been rotated by 180 degrees. The realized gain is 6.45 dBi.
