Design of A Metasurface Cavity Antenna for Multiple Bands

With the blooming of wireless technology, muti-band high-gain antenna has attracted increasing attention in the past decades. The easiest way to produce a multi-band high-gain antenna is to separately place antenna arrays with different operating bands in the wireless system. However, this leads to a complicated structure and also a low aperture reuse efficiency. In recent years, to improve the aperture reuse efficiency of multi-band high-gain antennas and avoid the requirement of the feeding network, the space-fed shared-aperture antenna which integrates space-fed antennas with different frequency bands together by sharing the same radiating aperture is widely investigated by the researchers, including the hybridization of a Fabry-Perot Cavity antenna (FPCA) with a Fresnel Zone Plate (FZP) lens [1], an FPCA with a folded reflectarray (FRA) [2], and an FPCA with a folded transmitarray (FTA) [3]. Although the above designs successfully demonstrate different techniques in the shared-aperture antenna design, they only realize two operating bands. From the application point of view, more operating bands are preferred in the current wireless communication system to improve the system capacity and spectrum efficiency. Therefore, the investigation of the triple-band shared-aperture antenna is meaningful.
