Dear Editor, We are writing in response to the alarming development of academic bullying in scholarly publications. This is an emerging ethical problem among other unethical issues. This has the dual impact of undermining academic discourse and stifling candid and open discussion. In response to criticism, dishonest writers may distribute misinformation, initiate personal assaults, or disparage their detractors in the scholarly community. Some writers even go so far as to post their comments to letters to the editor in places where editorial standards and peer review are nonexistent. Academic bullying must be addressed, as demonstrated by instances of potentially problematic cases.[2,3] When an author’s work is criticized, it might highlight weaknesses in the study or draw attention to a concealed financial conflict of interest or issue with the author’s qualifications. Maintaining high standards of honesty and transparency within the academic community is essential to preventing academic bullying and unethical activity. Editors and reviewers of journals ought to use caution when spotting conflicts of interest and making sure that strict academic requirements are fulfilled. Authors who act unethically ought to be held responsible and may be barred from publishing in respectable publications or have their writings retracted.[4] In conclusion, safeguarding the principles of academic integrity is essential for advancing knowledge and fostering a healthy academic environment.[5] By recognizing the tactics used by unethical authors and taking steps to address the issue, we can promote a culture of open and respectful debate within the scholarly community.
