Based on the study of the key stages in the formation of the legal system as one of the most important categories of jurisprudence and its elemental composition, the thesis is substantiated that the most important features of a legal system should include its ability to self-organize, adaptability, emergence, alternative development, relative self-sufficiency and autonomy in constant active interaction with other social systems. The conclusion is formulated that the legal system of society is both an object of research and an analytical instrument that should be used when carrying out a systemic-structural analysis of social phenomena and processes.
