Humanized childbirth: contributions from sociology
This study analyzed the nursing staff's perception regarding Humanized Childbirth in the present context. A qualitative investigation with an exploratory phenomenological approach was conducted, using a purposive sampling that included staff from maternity and obstetric departments, applying the criterion of information saturation. A semi-structured interview guide was used for data collection. The analysis was based on grounded theory, identifying five main categories: perception, promotion, knowledge, influencing factors, and sexual and reproductive rights. The main findings show that humanized childbirth ceased to be practiced during the pandemic but has been reinstated since 2022. Additionally, it was observed that, despite the restrictions, nursing staff continued their efforts in training and education on vaginal delivery. In conclusion, humanized childbirth is considered the best option for mothers, as it promotes both maternal recovery and the baby's well-being.
