The Use of Artificial Roughness to Obtain Thermal Contacts with Desired Properties

At the moment, surface roughness is of particular importance in many industries. The quality of the parts, friction, thermal conductance and electrical conductance depend on it. In this regard, the use of artificial roughness is gaining popularity. Depending on the target being pursued, the parameters of the applied roughness will have different values. One of these parameters is the relative position of the actual contact spots on nominally contacting surfaces. In this paper, the problem of creating a deterministic contact model is solved, which allows us to take into account the influence of the relative location of spots on thermal conductance. It has been shown that even small spots of actual contact significantly affect the thermal contact conductance. To optimize scientific research, a model has been created in a finite element complex. A program has also been written to automate research.
