Modeling of Modes of Electric Power Systems Feeding DC and AC Traction Substations

The results of a research are presented, whose purpose was to develop computer models to determine the modes of electric power systems (EPS) feeding DC and AC railway substations. The object of research was an EPS with a predominant traction load, to whose high-voltage power lines transformer and converter substations with traction networks of 3 kV and 27.5 kV were connected. The supply net included 110 and 220 kV power lines. EPS modes were calculated based on decomposition systems on segments of alternating and direct current. Calculations were carried out on basic frequency and frequencies of higher harmonics The modeling methodology is universal and can be used to determine regimes and quality indicators of electric power for EPS of any configuration and traction networks of various constructive designs. It allows to solve a number of additional tasks such as calculating black ice melting processes in traction networks and power lines; calculation of electromagnetic field voltages, determining the heating of wires power transmission lines and contact pendants
