Directions for Removing Restrictions on the Future Throughput Capacity of the Traction Power Supply System
Currently, much attention is paid to the problem of increasing freight traffic along the Eastern range in the direction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, which puts an additional serious load on the devices of the traction power supply system. In this work, computer modeling of one of the most complex sections of the named railway line was carried out. The results indicated the need to strengthen the traction power supply system of the examinedsection due to the reduced voltage level in the contact network when organizing the movement of heavy trains in accordance with the planned freight traffic volumes by 2030. A model of the power supply system for this section has been developed using several means of reinforcement: increasing the cross-section of the contact network by replacing the supporting cable with a wire of a larger cross-section; installation of reactive power compensation devices, both longitudinal and transverse; combined use of longitudinal and transverse compensation devices. The optimal method of amplification is considered to be the combined use of longitudinal and transverse compensation devices at traction substations that supply the limiting intersubstation zone, since only in this case the voltage level in the contact network reaches the minimum permissible value. The implementation of the proposed technical solution will provide the required capacity of the traction power supply system, allow to get rid of the limiting zone in the area section studied, and remove the capacity limitation.
