Target Localization and Vital Signs Monitoring Based on Spatial-Temporal-Frequency Characteristics With Short-Range FMCW Radar
Frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar is commonly employed for target localization and vital signs monitoring. However, the presence of energy leakage between the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) often leads to significant degradation in short-range applications. In this paper, A novel short-range target localization and vital signs monitoring technique based on spatial-temporal-frequency characteristics is proposed. Combining the temporal-frequency characteristics of intermediate frequency (IF) signal with anti-leakage signal, leakage is effectively mitigated. Subsequently, precise 2-D target localization and vital signs detection are achieved through the frequency-spatial features of the IF signals. Experiments were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique for short-range target localization and vital signs monitoring. The results indicate a 10 dB improvement in signal-to-interference ratio (SIR), effectively suppressing interference and achieving precise spatial 2-D positioning of the targets, thereby enabling accurate acquisition of respiratory and heartbeat waveform and spectrum.
