A Dual-Polarized Triple-Layer Transmitarray Antenna with Isolated Element Design

In this paper, a dual-polarized triple-layer transmitarray antenna(TAA) using isolated elements is proposed. First, a triple-layer isolated metal TAA element is designed. To realize the design, a substrate frame is used to support the elements. The adjacent elements are isolated, which is beneficial for broadening the element passband. Then, a dual-polarized triple-layer TAA with 185 elements is designed. Simulated results of the TAA indicate that its gain at the center frequency 10.5 GHz is 26.1 dBi, and its 1-dB gain bandwidth is about 20%.

Abstract

In this paper, a dual-polarized triple-layer transmitarray antenna(TAA) using isolated elements is proposed. First, a triple-layer isolated metal TAA element is designed. To realize the design, a substrate frame is used to support the elements. The adjacent elements are isolated, which is beneficial for broadening the element passband. Then, a dual-polarized triple-layer TAA with 185 elements is designed. Simulated results of the TAA indicate that its gain at the center frequency 10.5 GHz is 26.1 dBi, and its 1-dB gain bandwidth is about 20%.
