Design of Frequency-polarization Dual Mode Manipulation Metasurface Unit with Phase Change Materials
This paper presents a reflective metasurface unit, which can realize the manipulation of frequency and polarization of electromagnetic waves. The designed unit has a three-layer structure with a metal plane in the bottom layer, a quartz dielectric in the middle layer, and a topology combining VO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> and metal in the top layer. The inner ring structure of the top layer mainly realizes the function of polarization conversion. The VO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> outer ring on the top layer is combined with metal patches, which will enhance the conductivity of the outer ring in terms of both equivalent conductivity and heat absorption efficiency, making the outer ring conductivity higher than the inner ring, affecting its resonance, and producing a frequency offset. Simulation results show that when VO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> is in dielectric state, the unit operates from 29 GHz to 31.6 GHz; Increasing VO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> conductivity, the unit's operating band will be shifted to lower frequency band of 24.8 GHz to 26.5 GHz. This unit design provides a new approach for multi-mode-manipulation metasurface device design.
