Dual-UWB Shared-Aperture End-Fire Antennas Embedded in an Inverted Trapezoid Cavity
The increasing demand for ultrawideband end-fire antennas with a compact shared aperture on aircraft platforms. These antennas are sought after for their ability to achieve multiband capability and maximize spatial efficiency. This paper presents a dual ultra-wideband shared aperture end-fire antenna embedded in an inverted trapezoid cavity, which consists of a low-band antenna, a high-band antenna, and a dielectric lens. The antennas have been miniaturized and embedded into the cavity. An antenna prototype is fabricated and tested, which can operate independently at 2.1GHz-6GHz and 6GHz-18GHz, and exhibits stable end-fire radiation patterns. It demonstrates the potential for embedment applications on aircraft platforms.
