A Dual Mode Dual Broadband Shared Aperture Antenna for WBAN Communications
A dual mode dual broadband shared aperture antenna for WBAN communications is presented. The antenna is composed of rectangular patch and ring with circular slot. The antenna operates in the ISM bands at 2.45 GHZ and 5.8 GHZ for ON-body and OFF-body communication. The simulation results indicate that shared aperture antenna bandwidth covers 2.29-2.82 GHZ at low frequency and 4.74-5.84 GHZ at high frequency with isolation greater than 15 dB. In addition, the designed common-caliber antenna has patch-like radiation direction pattern at 2.45 GHZ band and monopole-like radiation direction pattern at 5.8 GHZ band.
