A Back-Cover Antenna Based on Spoof Surface Plasmon Polariton

This article proposes a leaky-wave antenna based on spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP), featuring an extremely low profile that allows it to be placed on the back cover of a mobile phone. The antenna’s -10dB bandwidth covers 23-30 GHz, including the n257 and n258 frequency bands of 5G. Operating in the millimeter-wave frequency range, this antenna does not occupy the space traditionally used by antennas on the phone frame, offering significant potential for 5G communication technology.

Abstract

This article proposes a leaky-wave antenna based on spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP), featuring an extremely low profile that allows it to be placed on the back cover of a mobile phone. The antenna’s -10dB bandwidth covers 23-30 GHz, including the n257 and n258 frequency bands of 5G. Operating in the millimeter-wave frequency range, this antenna does not occupy the space traditionally used by antennas on the phone frame, offering significant potential for 5G communication technology.
