Design of a transparent chessboard metasurface with low infrared emissivity and broadband RCS reduction
This study introduces a transparent, ultra-thin, single-layer chessboard metasurface formulated based on the principle of phase cancellation, which can attain dual stealth in both radar and infrared spectrums. The metasurface achieves over 10 dB radar cross section (RCS) reduction within the 11.7-19.5 GHz bandwidth. Based on the unique properties of indium tin oxide (ITO), the designed metasurface is transparent in the optical range and has a thickness of merely 1.5 mm. Furthermore, with a top ITO filling rate of approximately 0.798, the metasurface exhibits a low infrared emissivity of around 0.254. The simulation results match the theoretical predictions well, which demonstrate excellent infrared-radar stealth performance of the designed metasurface. This research provides novel perspectives and possibilities for high-frequency radar stealth technology and optical device design.
