Research on Two-element Superdirective Antennas and Their Novel Application as Driven Elements
Superdirective antennas can reach the limited boundary of antenna size and gain. However, they are difficult to design efficiently and are inherently narrowband, which would hinder their widespread application. Herein, we first introduce our developed supergain topology, which can assist with the easy realization of two-element supergain antennas. Then, a new strategy to convert the supergain antenna into a high-gain driven element is considered and investigated. Finally, two cases as examples are proposed by employing the driven element to excite other parasitic radiators. Simulated results verify the effectiveness of obtaining enhanced bandwidth with miniaturized size and considerable high gain.
