Numerical Calculation and Design of Hybrid Microstrip Antenna with FSS Based on Partial Element Equivalent Circuit
In this paper, a hybrid frequency-selective surface (FSS) and ultra-wideband (UWB) microstrip antenna system with low passband loss and high out-of-band suppression is presented and calculated based on the partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC). A preliminary of microstrip antenna is designed and its radiation performance is analyzed. Then, a defected ground is introduced to extend the working bandwidth and an FSS element is used to increase out-of-band suppression. On this basic, the UWB antenna and FSS system is co-simulated and optimized by PEEC to achieve low passband loss from 5.8 to 13.2 GHz and high out-of-band suppression.
