A Wideband Wide-Angle Scanning Circularly Polarized Microstrip Antenna based on metasurface for Ka-band communication
A ka-band wideband wide-angle scanning circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna base on metasurface is proposed. The proposed antenna achieves CP by introducing rectangular notch on radiating ring structure. The antenna elements are formed into 2×2 subarray in the form of sequential rotation. The sparse optimization of 320-element in the form of 2×2 subarray is carried out by genetic algorithm, which achieves ±55° wide-angle scanning without grating lobe and the array layout sparsity is 60%. The simulation results of element show that the impedance bandwidth (IBW) for |S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf>| <- 10 dB covers 24.86-31.54 GHz and the 3dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) covers 28.32-29.84 GHz. The simulation results of 2×2 subarray show that the IBW for |S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf>| <-10 dB covers 25.74-31.96 GHz and the 3dB ARBW covers 27.02-31.97 GHz. The proposed wideband wide-angle scanning CP antenna array would be a very attractive candidate for satellite communication.
