Generation of Gaussian Beam in FDTD using Surface Current Source

In this paper, the implementation of Gaussian beam in FDTD using surface current source is proposed. By appropriately introducing a Gaussian-distributed surface current source into the computational domain of FDTD, the propagation of a Gaussian beam can be accurately simulated. A numerical example is given, and its results are compared with CST with a peak-to-peak amplitude error of less than 0.2 dB, proving the correctness of the implementation.

Abstract

In this paper, the implementation of Gaussian beam in FDTD using surface current source is proposed. By appropriately introducing a Gaussian-distributed surface current source into the computational domain of FDTD, the propagation of a Gaussian beam can be accurately simulated. A numerical example is given, and its results are compared with CST with a peak-to-peak amplitude error of less than 0.2 dB, proving the correctness of the implementation.
