A High-Efficiency Folded Mode-Converting Transmitarray Antenna

In this paper, a high-efficiency folded mode-converting transmitarray antenna (FMCTA) is proposed. The proposed FMCTA consists of a top-layer receiver-transmitter surface (RTS), a bottom-layer polarization rotating surface (PRS) and a TM<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</inf> mode actuator with a conical horn. The circular waveguide TM<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</inf> mode can be converted into a linearly polarized (LP) wave by the RTS and the whole profile of the antenna is reduced by PRS. The simulated results show that the proposed FMCTA obtains a gain of 27.4 dBi with an aperture efficiency of 61.9% at 12.7GHz and a 3-dB gain bandwidth of 25.8%.
