Conformal Tightly Coupled Dipole Array With Ultrawideband Dual-Polarized Operation
This paper introduces novel methods for removing common-mode resonance (CMR) in conformal tightly coupled dipole arrays (TCDAs) designed for ultrawideband dual-polarized operation. Two ultra-wideband dual-polarized unit cells of TCDA are proposed using ideal port feeding. Each unit cell is fed by a simple parallel double conductor, eliminating the requirement for designing a balun to balance the operating currents. The CMR can be suppressed by loading the shorting lines and utilizing a two-set unit cell configuration. The simplicity of feeding strategy enables the proposed TCDAs to achieve high performance while facilitating conformal operation. The conformal operation of the dual-polarized TCDA further optimizes the CMR, ensuring impedance stability for the proposed conformal TCDA during ultrawideband operation and wide-angle scanning.
