Tunable Magnetic-Core Inductor Based on TSV Vertical Switch
As an important passive device, tunable inductor has great potential in the field of radio frequency (RF) integrated circuit (IC). In this paper, a tunable magnetic-core inductance based on through-silicon via (TSV) vertical switch is proposed. The inductor has two tuning modes. Firstly, the magnetic field generated by the control inductor plus DC bias current causes the change of the core permeability, thus causing the change of the inductance value, so as to realize the continuous adjustment of the inductance. Secondly, by turning on and off of TSV vertical switch, two different inductance connection modes and inductance coil length are generated to realize two different inductance values. The results show that the inductor can achieve 91 % tuning under the DC bias current of 0.1 ~ 40 mA.
