An Improved SBR Method for Calculating Electromagnetic Scattering of Multi-layered Coated Media

In this paper, we propose an improved approach that utilizes Hierarchical Bounding Volume (BVH) and K-Dimensional tree (KD tree) to accelerate the ray tracing process in the Shooting and Bouncing Ray (SBR) method. This approach extends the application of SBR algorithm to complex multi-layered coated targets. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach, when applied to targets with complex coatings, can maintain the same level of accuracy as the traditional SBR method while significantly improving efficiency.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose an improved approach that utilizes Hierarchical Bounding Volume (BVH) and K-Dimensional tree (KD tree) to accelerate the ray tracing process in the Shooting and Bouncing Ray (SBR) method. This approach extends the application of SBR algorithm to complex multi-layered coated targets. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach, when applied to targets with complex coatings, can maintain the same level of accuracy as the traditional SBR method while significantly improving efficiency.
